Installing Linux on Pen drive – mobility OS

A really good option for people who use public PCs for internet and other jobs. but for me I need Linux on pen drive because my company doesn’t allows users to install Linux on office laptops. You can really enjoy power of Linux anywhere anytime with this solution. Its simple, easy and handy.

All you need is a pen drive (recommended 2 GB), a Linux OS ISO image (debian, ubuntu, fedora….or what ever you like) and a pen drive Linux installer software available from www.pendrivelinux.com/universausb-devices-2l-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ all you need to do is insert pen drive on your Windows machine (yes you need a windows machine to create a USB bootable Linux) and download a Linux ISO, I did ubuntu 10.04 Launch Linux installer, choose pen drive say E: and select directory where you have Linux ISO image. If you want to Linux in persistent mode then select space you want to use for software installation and configuration. for eg I am using 8 GB verbatim micro USB pen drive. So I choose 4 GB for persistent use. Now I am able to install additional software and keep my jabber account, browser bookmarks persistent on thumb drive OS and use it anywhere anytime for credit card transactions and other secure jobs. no risks of getting virus infections or spyware for sensitive information.
