ioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. There are no subscription fees or setup charges to use GPS.I got a GBT709 bluetooth receiver from www.chipsilicon.comLet see how it works

I have used this device with my Sony ericsson K750i mobile and a web tracker gmap-track.comSearch bluetooth devices on your mobile, you will find “BT_GPS”
Download google maps for mobile on phone from mgmaps.com
Launch this software and go to Menu->GPS->Setup
here “select device” -> “bluetooth”
this will find BT_GPS, select this.
If you want to turn on web tracking feature then first register on gmap-track.com. After registration you get a Tracking ID. Now in web tracker setup in mgmaps give your gmap-track username and this Tracker ID.
Now to locate your self on Earth go to Menu->GPS->”Where am I?”
Mobile phone will query GPS over bluetooth for coordinates (latitude, longitude) and GPS will fetch this information from satellites and give it back to mobile phone.
mgmaps application then shows these coordinates on map using google earth (using GPRS)
It also sends these coordinates to gmap-track.com over GPRS for web tracker. you can also make your location public on gmap-track.com or let it be visible to yourself.
You can use this system for vehicle locating
Simply place bluetooth GPS and mobile phone in car and keep a eye on your car on gmap-track.com ![]()
