Solo trip to Chakrata

Share

In the month December, usually I avail all my leftover leaves.

In 2024, my kids school session continued till December end.

So I decided to venture alone for a random unplanned trip to make best use of holiday season.

Packed few clothes, fruits I headed towards Kalesar national park from Kurukshetra. Reached there in less than 2 hours. On the way I bought a tire inflator and a torch for safety.

I inquired for the jungle safari at Kalesar but then came to know that they charge for complete vehicle. Doesn’t matter if there is one person or group of up to 6 people, tariff is same.

So, I decided to go further and midway I routed my car GPS to Chakrata town in Himalayas.

Enjoying the views and some local snacks I reached Chakrata around 2:30 pm.

Since I had no pre booked hotel, I started searching for a place to stay on Internet. Then I came across signboard of an accommodation. I called them and they gave directions to reach to the property.

It was not a fancy hotel, but had a spectacular view of sun rays falling on snow capped Himalayas.

I remember, I paid around 1100₹ for the stay.

In evening I walked to the local Chakrata market. Unlike commercialised hill stations of India, this place has good old days charm and calmness.

Due to light snow in the night and heavy snow prediction next day, I just explored local town and didn’t went to tiger fall and other areas nearby.

May be things to do next time 😊

In the breakfast, I got half fry eggs. I enjoyed my breakfast beside bonfire near open kitchen.

In the dinner last night, I had simple homely vegetarian meals.

This was my first experience to travel alone to enjoy holidays.

Quite a memorable experience to share with the world !!
